What is happening in this session?
Today one in five children is in some way neurodivergent (ADHD, learning disabilities, autism, gifted, processing issues and more).
Because many of these children have “invisible differences,” they are often misunderstood and/or inappropriately supported in schools and families around the world.
In this talk, Debbie shares what neurodivergence in children looks like, why some of their behavior can be perplexing, and how we can best support and embrace them, in classrooms, homes, and communities everywhere.
All this and more:
- Have a deeper understanding of what neurodivergence looks like in children and how it can manifest (challenging behaviors, different learning approaches, etc.)
- Have a positive, respectful, and child-centered perspective on how to respond to “challenging behavior” in neurodivergent children
- Acquire ideas for seeing neurodivergent children through a “new lens” that best supports these kids’ emotional and cognitive development
